The Swiss demonstration site at Solothurn

The Swiss demonstration site at Solothurn, Canton of Solothurn, represents a municipal area with considerable PV and hydro production capacities. Regio Energie Solothurn (RES), the local utility, will be the operator of the 700 kW PtG-plant based on an innovative biological methanation process. As carbon source locally produced sewage gas will be utilized. The demonstration plant will be embedded in the grid and production infrastructure of the utility. To increase the operation flexibility and the energy efficiency the plant will be connected to the local electricity and gas distribution grid and to a district heat system.
